Monroe Richman, MD
A beach chair on Waiohai will remain forever empty with the passing of Monroe Richman, MD.
“There are some who bring light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light still remains.”
And so it is for those mourning Monroe, a 30-year resident of Kauai whose lifetime of service and accomplishments speak volumes of who he was to those who knew and loved him.
Friend, mentor, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and unofficial mayor of Waiohai Beach passed away on Dec. 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.
On Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 2 p.m., a traditional memorial paddle-out followed by a celebration of life will be held at Monroe’s favorite beach, Waiohai, where all are welcome.
Monroe Richman, our family loved you. Your legacy will live on with the stories we have to tell about a doctor who went beyond the call to help a small Hispanic family. My brother Monroe was named after you and he is a wonderful young man. Be in peace Dr. Monroe.
