POIPU — County Ocean Safety Bureau officials closed Brennecke’s Beach Saturday to swimming until further notice due to a shark sighting.
Lifeguards report that a roughly 3-foot reef shark was sighted near the shoreline at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Per standard protocol, Ocean Safety Bureau officials posted signs to warn beachgoers of the shark sighting and advised no swimming until further
notice.
Lifeguards will reassess the area this morning to determine if the beach can be reopened.
