KAPAA — A 39-year-old Kapaa man was hospitalized after being stabbed Tuesday night, while another man was arrested in connection to the incident.
KAPAA — A 39-year-old Kapaa man was hospitalized after being stabbed Tuesday night, while another man was arrested in connection to the incident.
Police were called to Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of Kauwila Street about 10:15 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault in progress.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim and a 28-year-old male were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the victim being stabbed in the stomach.
The victim sustained a severe laceration and was transported to Wilcox Hospital for treatment. It was later learned that his injuries were non-life threatening.
The suspect, Patrick Janicke of Kapaa, was arrested at the scene for assault in the second degree. He is being held in Police Cellblock with bail set at $5,000.
Kuhio Highway between Kauwila Street and Kukui Street was closed until 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, while police conducted an on-scene investigation.
An investigation continues.
