HONOLULU — A Big Island animal shelter is stepping up security following two recent thefts of animals.
Hawaii News Now reported Thursday that the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s after-hours kennel was broken into twice and dogs were stolen.
Humane society officials say the stolen dogs have owners.
Officials say the same vehicle was seen at the two separate thefts.
They say the shelter will step up security and fix the kennels, with the help of more volunteers.
