Raymond ‘Dede’ Aiu Sr.
Raymond “Dede” Aiu Sr. passed away on Nov. 6, 2017, in Wailua, Kauai, at the age of 84.
He is survived by wife Verlie Anne (Harris) Aiu, children Eugene “Kappy” (Rinda) Aiu, William (Dustine) Aiu, Verlie Ka‘iulani (Norman) Ah Hee, Virginia Leilehua Aiu Taber, Deanna Kawelo (Russell) Kackley, Raymond Aiu Jr., Rosary “Chachi” Lindsey and Raynette Mailelauli‘ili‘i Domingo, siblings Cecilia Wood of Honolulu, Ernest Aiu of Monterey Park, Calif., Alma Cirino of Aina Haina, Oahu, 29 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born on March 8, 1933, in Honolulu, to Eugene and Alice (Apana) Aiu.
His services are scheduled for Jan. 5, 2018, with visitation and wake at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa from 7 to 9 p.m. His Mass and burial will follow on Jan. 6, 2018, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa, at 9 a.m. A pa‘ina will follow at Coyle Hall on the St. Catherine campus. All are welcome to attend and celebrate.
