HANALEI – Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge was closed about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday following heavy rains throughout the afternoon.

The American Red Cross opened a shelter at Hanalei School.

A flash flood warning for Kauai was issued until 8:30 p.m.

Ponding, low visibility and other hazardous driving conditions were expected across the island.
