Lei Ann Takemoto
Lei Ann Takemoto of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on Oct. 12, 2017, at the age of 67. She was born in Minneapolis on Oct. 7, 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wally and Tsugime Takemoto.
She is survived by brother Jack Takemoto, sister Joyce Takemoto, niece Tinina (Kaili) Takemoto Olores, grandniece Mahina, grandnephew Waipuna, as well as numerous friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Kalaheo Missionary Church starting at 10 a.m.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Mary Kealoha
Mary Kealoha of Honolulu passed away on Oct. 7, 2017, at her home. She was born on Jan. 10, 1958, on Kauai.
She was preceded in death by father Alfred Medeiros, mother Lillian Santos Perreira, stepfather John Perreira and sister Louise Medeiros.
She is survived by son Shaun (Jennifer) Kealoha, daughter Roxann Kealoha, granddaughters Erin, Erika and Emilee Paikai, brothers John Perreira Jr., Alfred (Helen) Medeiros and Wayne (Shirly) Medeiros, sisters Brenda (Butch) Durant, Elaine (Squeaky) Kealoha, Eleanor (Guy Menor) Haumea, Clara (Mel) Leasau, Donna Medeiros and Lillian (Bart) Thomas, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services over her ashes will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:40 a.m. and Mass to follow.
Borthwick Mortuary of Honolulu assisted the family with arrangements.
Fedor M. Brandt Jr.
Fedor M. Brandt Jr. passed away on Oct. 26, 2017.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Hilo.
He was preceded in death by parents Fedor and Mary, wife Anna May, and grandson Brendan Chee.
He is survived by daughter Brenda (Phillip) Chee of Honolulu, sons Douglas (Vicky) Brandt of Kekaha and Michael (Ronnie) Brandt of the Big Island, grandchildren Maegen and Ronson Brandt of Honolulu, Jocelyn and Bryan Chee of Honolulu and Cody Brandt of Arizona, sister Alice McAnany of Wahiawa, Oahu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held, with cremation to follow.

EC Hobron ‘Hoby’ Van Gieson II
EC Hobron “Hoby” Van Gieson II passed away at home in Las Vegas on Sept. 16, 2017. He was born in Hilo on July 31, 1938, and retired as an engineer from Hawaiian Telcom.
He is survived by wife Bobbie Van Gieson of Las Vegas, children Sol Van Gieson of Pittsburgh, Sam (Wendee) Van Gieson, Lani (Al) Aranio and Kalei Van Gieson, all of Kauai, stepsons Mark Cockayne, Mitch Cockayne and Mike Cockayne of California, sisters Lenora Van Gieson Serrao and Martha McNichol of Hawaii Island, brothers Charles (Judy) Van Gieson of Oahu and George Van Gieson of Hawaii Island, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Puakea Golf Course clubhouse at 2 p.m. The family requests no wreaths. Other flowers and lei are welcomed.
