SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Chase Fourcade threw for a career-best 358 yards and three touchdowns as Nicholls picked up its fourth straight win, beating Incarnate Word 38-31 on Saturday.
Dai’Jean Dixon hauled in four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns and Mason Roberts caught three for 106 yards and a score for Nicholls (6-2, 5-1 Southland Conference). The Colonels last won four straight when they were conference champs in 2005.
Incarnate Word’s Desmond Hite returned a kickoff 100 yards to close to 17-14 with 5:51 left in the second quarter. Fourcade answered with an 8-yard TD pass to Dixon and Laryon James picked off Sean Brophy, returning it 57 yards for a score and a 31-14 lead at the break.
Brophy hit Zaire Andre on a 2-yard scoring strike as UIW (1-7, 1-5) closed to 38-31 with 45 seconds left. The Colonels recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal the win.
