HONOLULU — The 2017 Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Riflery Championships concluded at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall in Honolulu on Tuesday.
Kauai Interscholastic Federation representatives Kapaa High School’s boys team finished 13th overall, sixth of seven boys teams, and Kapaa’s girls team placed 14th overall, eighth of nine girls teams, at the state tournament.
The Warriors boys team compiled a score total score of 1,997-39. The top boys team was Moanalua, of the Oahu Interscholastic Association, with a score of 2,095-52.
Kapaa’s boys members are: Michael John Anderson (513-14 total; 190-7 prone, 148-0 standing, 175-7 kneeling), Mark Corpuz (496-9; 178-3, 152-4, 166-2), Michael Rosa (495-8; 186-6, 141-0, 168-2) and Ian Kimura (493-8; 179-2, 152-3, 162-3).
Kapaa’s girls team recorded a total of 1,989-37. Sacred Hearts, of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, was the top girls team and best overall with a total of 2,132-57.
The Warrior girls shooters are: Janice Manique (518-11; 185-4, 154-3, 179-4), Haley Gokan (504-8; 177-5, 157-2, 170-1), Alicia Hayakawa (493-7; 181-6, 150-1, 162-0) and Larissa Tsai (474-11; 162-4, 131-1, 181-6).
Manique was the top KIF shooter at the tournament, placing 49th overall out of 120.
The KIF also had two individual shooters. Braden Kobayashi of Waimea who was 91st overall (496-10; 184-7, 150-1, 162-2), and Kierstyn Bukoski of Kauai High who was 108th overall (488-7; 176-4, 153-1, 159-2).
