FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed tight end Neal Sterling off the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad and placed cornerback Xavier Coleman on injured reserve.
Sterling had one catch for 8 yards while playing in three games with the Jets earlier this season after being signed as a free agent on Sept. 3. He was signed to Kansas City’s practice squad on Oct. 7, two days after being waived by New York.
The former Monmouth University standout provides depth behind Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Eric Tomlinson and rookie Jordan Leggett, who has yet to play this season because of a knee injury.
Coleman injured a shoulder while playing special teams at Miami last Sunday. The rookie from Portland State was signed off the practice squad on Oct. 14 and played in two games with the Jets.
