ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The Arena Football League is headed back to Albany.
The official announcement about the as-yet-unnamed team for the league was made Tuesday. The Philadelphia Soul’s ownership group is joining with local business owners to run the team, including George Hearst III, publisher and CEO of the times Union of Albany.
The Philadelphia group’s members include former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski and ex-NFL head coach Dick Vermeil.
The team will play its 2018 season at downtown Albany’s Times Union Center. The public will help pick the team’s name. The team is searching for a head coach.
The AFL’s Albany Firebirds played in Albany until 2000. That team moved to Indianapolis.
