LIHUE — Lihue will be one of over 150 cities to host Q Commons 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The event aims to “challenge participants to bring leadership, civility, hope and restoration to the local community and our nation in a time of great division.”
Held at Ha Coffee, Q Commons attendees will interact with one another as three nationally broadcast and three locally curated talks equip them to confront with controversial and timely issues.
“Kauai is certainly not immune to the broader issues our country is facing and we want to be a part of the solution,” said Kauai’s Q Commons host Rick Bundschuh, author and teaching pastor at Kauai Christian Fellowship. “The night will be about influencers in our community engaging tough issues head-on and wrestling with how we should respond and lead.”
With the nation divided politically, racially, socioeconomically and morally, Kauai Christians and cultural leaders will join thousands across the nation and world to engage these contentious issues and bring healing to our divided nation, according to a press release.
“We have so many people who are saying ‘We care about being part of the healing of our divided nation, but how do we do it?” said Gabe Lyons, author of “Good Faith” and founder of Q. “Part of how we heal our divided nation is realizing that we each have a part to play. Who’s it going to be up to? It’s going to be up to you and me.”
Speakers will discuss “what it looks like to create something that can help move us forward as a nation,” Lyons said.
