ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Defending Greek champion Olympiakos beat league leader PAOK 1-0 Sunday to narrow the gap separating the two teams to one point.
Bjorn Engels was credited with the goal, but all he did was to be in the right place for Carlos Zambrano’s misjudged clearance. That sent the ball ricocheting from Engels’s body and into the net in the 51st minute.
PAOK is a point ahead of four pursuers — Olympiakos, AEK, Levadiakos and Panionios, which won 1-0 at Asteras 1-0 Sunday.
AEK can claim at least a share of the lead Monday if it does not lose to visiting Atromitos.
Also Sunday, Apollon beat Xanthi 2-0 and Larissa won 1-0 at Platanias.
