WHAT’S AT STAKE
LSU was wobbling after a loss to Troy a few weeks ago, but back-to-back wins over Florida and Auburn have the Tigers back in the national rankings. A win over Ole Miss would further solidify the program’s momentum. The Rebels want to build off of last week’s 57-35 win over Vanderbilt.
KEY MATCHUP
Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson vs. LSU’s pass defense. Patterson is throwing for more than 350 yards per game and has 17 touchdowns through the air. LSU counters with one of the league’s better pass defenses — the Tigers are giving up just 170 yards passing per game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
LSU: LB Devin White. He’s been one of the nation’s most productive defensive players with 77 tackles through seven games. The sophomore has 7½ tackles for a loss, including 2½ sacks, and has led the Tigers in tackles in six out of seven games.
Ole Miss: WR A.J. Brown. The 6-foot-1 sophomore has been Patterson’s favorite target this season. He leads the SEC with 35 catches for 678 yards and six touchdowns.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron returns to Ole Miss as a head coach for the first time since he was fired from the school in 2007. He led the Rebels for three seasons from 2005-07, finishing with a 10-25 record, including a 3-21 mark in the SEC. … LSU WR D.J. Chark had five catches for 150 yards in the team’s win over Auburn last week. … Ole Miss is playing its third nationally ranked opponent in four weeks. The Rebels lost to Alabama 66-3 and Auburn 44-23. … Ole Miss’ 57 points against Vanderbilt last week were the second-most in program history in an SEC game. The record is 63, which was also against Vanderbilt in 1979.
