TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey woman who acknowledged killing her ex-boyfriend then getting a tattoo of his name and date of death has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Forty-year-old Charlotte Carmen was sentenced Friday to 17 years in state prison, with five years of probation. NJ.com reports Carmen pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter earlier this year in the death of 33-year-old Paris France Way.
Authorities say Carman and Way got into an argument in 2015, which led to Carmen stabbing him in the chest. She then took $180 from his pocket and used part of the stolen funds to pay for a tattoo that reads “RIP PARIS,” alongside Way’s birth and death dates.
