FILE – In this Jan. 19, 2017 file photo, Gloria Steinem attends the world premiere screening of HBO’s “Becoming Warren Buffett” in New York. Since the story broke of allegations of sexual harassment by Harvey Weinstein more than a week ago a growing chorus of public figures has been denouncing the powerful producer. Steinem is one of the latest public figures to weigh in. In an email message, Steinem called Weinstein a “sexual abuser” and said: “I hope and believe all the attention to Harvey Weinstein will encourage many more women – and men – to tell the firsthand truth about sexual assault, harassment and bullying. I remind the media and prosecutors that people who come forward in these cases are likely to be telling the truth because there is so little reward — and often punishment — for doing so. Please believe the accusers and investigate!” (Photo by Charles Sykes/Invision/AP, File)
