NEWPORT, N.H. (AP) — A man accused of conspiring with his 83-year-old mother in a failed murder-for-hire plot involving his ex-wife will remain held in New Hampshire on $1 million bail.
Valley News reports 63-year-old Maurice Temple appeared Thursday in court for a hearing concerning a motion to reconsider his bail. Sullivan County Attorney Marc Hathaway says there was no change in Temple’s bail amount.
Temple and his mother, Pauline Chase, have pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal solicitation of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempt to commit murder.
Prosecutors have played recordings of Temple and Chase with a man who was asked to kill Temple’s ex-wife. The man went to police. The killing didn’t happen.
A final pretrial hearing for Temple has been scheduled on Nov. 7. Chase has a competency hearing scheduled that day.
