PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Latest on a University of Pittsburgh student found dead in homicide (all times local):
5:55 p.m.
Police are seeking the ex-boyfriend of a University of Pittsburgh student who was found dead of a head injury in her off-campus home during the weekend.
They say 20-year-old Alina Sheykhet had filed a protection-from-abuse order against 21-year-old Matthew Darby last month.
Darby hasn’t been charged in her death. He was arrested Sept. 26 and charged with criminal trespass for breaking into her apartment.
Darby was charged in March with rape, sexual assault and other charges in an unrelated case.
Sheykhet said in her filing that Darby climbed the gutter outside her house and broke into her apartment because she left him and stopped answering his phone calls.
Sheykhet’s father found her body Sunday in her apartment.
Darby’s attorney in both cases tells the Tribune-Review it’s too soon to comment.

Police are investigating the apparent homicide of a University of Pittsburgh student from Russia who was found in her off-campus home.
The medical examiner’s office has identified the student as 20-year-old Alina Sheykhet. Her Facebook page indicates she attended Montour High School in Robinson Township, a Pittsburgh suburb, after moving from Ivanovo, Russia.
Officials say police found Sheykhet unresponsive on the second floor of an Oakland home around 9 a.m. Police say she died from blunt force trauma.
The university says police do not believe there is a further threat to the community. A spokesman for the university says the campus is saddened by Sheykhet’s death and extends its sympathies to her family and friends.
Police are continuing to investigate.
