HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Brad Mayes threw a 35-yard touchdown to Troy Pelletier late in the fourth quarter to give Lehigh a 41-38 edge over Colgate in a Patriot League opener on Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks (1-5, 1-0) trailed 38-35 with 3:36 left in the game when Mayes found Pelletier for the score. Kicker Austin Henning missed the extra point try, leaving Lehigh up by three. Mark Walker recovered a Colgate fumble on the Raiders’ final drive and the Mountain Hawks were able to run out the remaining 1:49 for the win.
Mayes finished with 297 yards passing with two touchdowns. Dominick Bragalone ran for 186 yards and a touchdown and caught a 35-yard pass for a second score. Pelletier had 132 yards and a touchdown receiving.
Lehigh trailed 28-21 late in the third when Bragalone ran for a 53-yard touchdown to even it up, 28-28, with 5:16 left in the quarter.
Grant Breneman threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score for the Raiders (2-4, 0-1)
