LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Warm weather has forced the postponement of the first U.S. bobsled national team trials race of the Olympic season until at least Sunday.
Racing was scheduled to start Saturday at Mount Van Hoevenberg, where high temperatures this weekend are expected to be around 70 degrees.
USA Bobsled and Skeleton says Sunday’s race is still tentative, and “dependent on weather and ice conditions.”
The skeleton national team trials will start in Calgary on Saturday as scheduled.
Team trials are the first step for bobsledders and skeleton athletes toward potentially making the Olympic team, which will be finalized in January. Bobsledders started training runs on the refrigerated track for the first time this season on Wednesday.
