Joy Miura Koerte said the Lihue Christian Church bazaar is Saturday from 9 to (the lines to get in start well ahead of that) 11 a.m. at the church’s social hall on Kress Street with baked goods, sushi, nishime, produce, local-style crafts, quilts, and more. Proceeds help the LCC as well as certain items helping the Boy Scout Troop 148, Girl Scouts, and ‘Ae Kamalii Preschool.
Kudos to Sharon Lasker and the Kauai Committee on the Status of Women on a great Paint the Town Pink breast cancer awareness walk! Bauer the dog, had his booties that resembled pink, and Nancy Kanna said orange is the new pink for Bauer. Eva LaBarge got a bunch of the Wilcox Health people doing the cheer/aid station at the hospital sign.
Kudos to the Kauai Fire Dept. on its pink fashions for October (even the lanyards are pink), and the Kauai Police Dept. who turned out in force, and the best part? It didn’t rain.
OK, now the Community Haunted House (it works because Finnigan Warrack wants out!) opens at the Kukui Grove (aren’t they doing the science thing tonight, too?). This benefits a whole lot of people, including the Toys for Tots, 4-H Livestock Club, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
And, don’t forget the Party in Pink events…one in Hanapepe, Friday, and one in Kapaa, Saturday – both starting at 5 p.m.
