This photo taken in Sept. 2017 shows battle damage to Roman ruins in Sabratha, Libya. Rival Libyan militias have turned their guns against each other in fierce fighting that has killed dozens the past weeks and endangered Roman ruins in Sabratha. The fighting is in part fallout from an Italian-backed deal that funded militias to act as police forces to stop migrants from crossing the Mediterranean to Europe. The deal dramatically reduced migrant crossings, but sparked a backlash from other militias in the city. (Anti-ISIS Operation Room via AP)
