WAIMEA — Waimea Public Library will host an author talk by Catherine Lo about her book, “The Filipinos of Koloa,” on Oct. 11 at 5:30 pm.
In her book, Lo highlights the Filipino experience on the Koloa Plantation from 1910 to 1996. This recently published book discusses the history of the plantation, the ethnic groups who worked there, and daily life on the plantation camps.
Lo was a public, school and academic librarian who retired as head librarian of Kauai Community College. Her previous book is “Lihue Lutheran Church Centennial Album,” published in 1981. Copies of “The Filipinos of Koloa” will be available for purchase, and part of the proceeds will benefit the Friends of Waimea Public Library.
