METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have placed rookie linebacker Alex Anzalone on injured reserve following his shoulder injury during Sunday’s victory over Miami in London.
Anzalone, a third-round draft choice out of Florida, started New Orleans’ first four games this season and has been in on 16 solo or assisted tackles to go with one sack and one pass breakup.
The Saints have not announced whether Anzalone is expected to miss the entire season. NFL teams may re-active up to two players per season from their injured reserve list. Coach Sean Payton has said the Saints anticipate bringing back cornerback Delvin Breaux from injured reserve, but it remains unclear which other player could return.
Transactions posted by the NFL on Wednesday also show the Saints have added four players to their active roster: Guard John Greco, defensive tackle John Hughes, running back Zach Line and linebacker Gabe Martin.
