ROME (AP) — Fifteen years after his father got entangled with drugs at the Tour de France, Raimondas Rumsas has been provisionally banned by Italy’s anti-doping agency.
Nado Italia says Rumsas tested positive for a banned growth hormone in an out-of-competition test a month ago.
Meanwhile, Italian prosecutors are still investigating the death in May of Rumsas’ younger brother, Linas, amid suspected doping links.
The Lithuanian family is based in Italy.
Rumsas’ father, also named Raimondas, was banned for a year after testing positive for EPO at the 2003 Giro d’Italia. That came a year after suspected doping products were found in the car of his wife, Edita, on the last day of the 2002 Tour de France.
The couple received four-month prison sentences.
