SPRINGFIELD, Maine (AP) — Maine authorities say a body found over the weekend is that of an elderly, retired priest who was missing for more than two months.
The Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife released a statement on Tuesday confirming the body of Clement Thibodeau, of Caribou, had been found. Game wardens found Thibodeau’s remains on Sept. 30 after a man discovered his car near a remote road south of Springfield. Foul play is not suspected.
Thibodeau disappeared July 15 from a restaurant in Caribou. Authorities say he might have been experiencing dementia-like symptoms at the time.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland says Thibodeau was a pastor at Notre Dame Church in Waterville from 1980 to 1987.
