Sarah Tochiki, director for the Kauai All-Island band, said the practice Sunday geared toward helping a high school impacted by Hurricane Harvey raised nearly a thousand dollars. The funds will be sent to the school to help pay for instruments, sheet music, and other supplies not covered by insurance and keep the students playing.
Did you say Happy birthday, Grace Joy? The little Collins person celebrated her birthday Thursday and made sure she had enough hints dropped so people would wish her a special day.
Jennifer Ortal and Elvrine Chow (that fancy smoothie from Lappert’s looked really good) are happy that Saturday came and went, and we’re still here …”Cheers to beginnings,” Jennifer said.
Isobel Storch of Lanipo Farms said Florrie can’t come to the markets because she started preschool, and Kuu Breen said grandma Helen Lacono is still on vacation until next week. Ferdinand Dosono of Kauai Kim Chee found some customers who liked the sour kim chee, and Chef Judy Capertina of Haole Girl Island Sweets just came back from Maui. Now, her next step is to the Coconut Festival which opens Oct. 7 and 8 at the Kapaa Beach Park.
