LIHUE — Prosecuting Attorney Justin F. Kollar said Friday that Aquila Ecolono, aka Aquila Say, 42, of Hanalei, was indicted on Sept. 13 by a Fifth Circuit Grand Jury for six charges associated with an October 2016 incident.
In that incident, Kauai police allegedly recovered more than an ounce of methamphetamine, as well as other drugs including hydrocodone, tramadol, alprazolam and diazepam, and more than an ounce of marijuana.
The grand jury returned a true bill on six charges including promoting a dangerous drug in the first degree, a class A felony, promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree, a class C felony, three misdemeanor charges of promoting a harmful drug in the fourth degree, and a misdemeanor count of promoting a detrimental drug in the second degree.
If convicted on all charges, Say faces up to 29 years in prison. Say was arrested on the grand jury bench warrant, posted a $50,000 bond, and will make her initial appearance in Circuit Court on Oct. 4.
Say was convicted in 2009 of three felony drug charges, including two counts of promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree and one count of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
