LIHUE — The body of a 65-year-old man was recovered from waters near the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor Sunday morning.
His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A bystander walking near the jetty noticed an unresponsive male floating in the water and contacted the U.S. Coast Guard about 7 a.m., according to a county press release.
Police, firefighters and personnel from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources were notified and responded to the area. Firefighters removed the body from the water. The man was presumed dead at the scene and was transported to Wilcox morgue.
The case remains under investigation, but police do not suspect foul play at this time.
