Arcelia Agbayani Delos Santos
Arcelia Agbayani Delos Santos of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 15, 2017, at the age of 69. She was born in Santa Ignacia, Tarlac, Philippines, on Oct. 5, 1947, and retired as a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leopoldo and Felicidad Agbayani; brother, Patricio Agbayani; and sister, Aurora Garcia.
She is survived by her husband, Mauro Delos Santos; four sons, Gerald (Arlyn) Delos Santos, Junatan (Carrie) Delos Santos, Bayani (Albenia) Delos Santos, Rey-an Delos Santos; four daughters, Nuevelyn (Jose Jr.) Layaoen, Marilyn (Nick) Solatre, Yamanie (Reth) Leones, Richel (Randal) Gusman; 12 grandchildren, John Paul, Abbygail, Reginald, Allison, Jordan, Shaina, Stephanie, Joshua, Jussten, Elisha, Shery-Ann, Destiny; sisters, Florencia Lomibao, Trinidad Dela Cruz, Julieta Agbayani, Juanita Pasamonte and Myrna Fernando; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Aug. 28, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lihue Cemetery.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Delos Santos family with arrangements.
Violet H. Goto
Violet H. Goto of Haena passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 6, 2017, at the age of 86. She was born in Haena on Jan. 13, 1931, and was employed for many years at Hanalei Plantation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Goto; parents, Joseph and Dora Hashimoto; brothers, Jack, George and Joe Jr. Hashimoto; and nephew Thomas Kaina Hashimoto.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Annie) Hashimoto of Kilauea; niece, Lei Romas; grandnieces, Lori (Danny) Alapai, Lisa (Dwight) Akita Jr.; great-grandnephew, Teivyn Akita; great-grandniece, Taeley Akita; sister-in-law Wanda Hashimoto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Waioli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei with visitation from 9 to 10:15 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Goto family with arrangements.
Aurora Afaga Bombay
Aurora Afaga Bombay, 77, of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, formerly of Kapaa, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 13, 1940, she was a retired seamstress.
She is survived by her husband Benito Ramos Bombay; son Sam (Justina) Bombay; daughters Myrna (David) Masuda, Eden (Tim Fabiana) Delos Santos and Loida (Rodney Chun Jr.) Levinthol; brothers Franklin (Estrella) Afaga, Pastor (Juliet) Afaga Jr.; sisters Cion (Maximo) Abunales, Jesusa (Marino) Acidera, Mely (John) Melchor; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Afaga Sr. and Maxima Magaoay Afaga, brothers Roman (Anita) Afaga and Cornelio (Filomena) Afaga.
Viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 1, from 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m., both at the Bombay residence in Brgy. 32, Corocor, Barcarra, Philippines.
