Rilen Loo of Lihue paired with Karissa Kilby of Honolulu and picked up a stroke Sunday during the final round of the 2017 Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Mixed Team Championship at the Poipu Bay Golf Course.
The tournament’s leaders, Chad Lee of Wailuku, Maui and Kamie Hamada of Aiea, Oahu, carded a 66 during the first round, which played using a four-ball stroke play format. The second round was foursome stroke play, and the Lee/Hamada duo dropped 10 strokes but could not be ousted from its lead.
The pair picked up the tournament title with a two-day 142 (66-76), four strokes better than the runner up team of Lana Calibuso-Kwee of Wailuku and Jordan Terada of Kahului, Maui, who ended the tournament at 146 (73-73), a stroke better than Kilby and Loo (74-73-147).
Naomi Wong paired with Peter Jung to finish fourth at 150 (77-73).
Other Kauai players in the tournament included Taryn Taguma of Hanapepe, pairing with Jaydon Kyono of Lawai to finish at 177 (80-97).
Jessica Hreljac of Lihue partnered with Luke de la Pena of Kalaheo to finish at 191 (92-99).
The 2017 HSJGA Mixed Team Championship played 6,023 yards for the girls ages 13 to 18 and 6,499 yards for the boys 13 to 18.
