Gary and I agree again.

Here are a couple of ideas where our government doesn’t have to throw a ton money at a problem, only to exacerbate it.
Pesticides? The Joint Fact Finding Study arrived at one conclusion that everyone could agree on. That was that the greatest danger of pesticides and fertilizers to Kauai residents was in domestic use. Our homes are the sites of our greatest risk. Perhaps a little training and education in the correct use of domestic chemicals would reduce that abuse. The retailers could provide a public service by providing these training materials. Affordable housing? The only solution to Kauai’s long-term affordable housing crisis is Hawaiian Homes. Providing infrastructure to these lands would generate housing that would never reach the open market. Hawaiian Homes benefits those Hawaiians who have been waiting on lists for generations. These listed Hawaiians, moving into Hawaiian Homes, would free up existing homes for other families. This domino effect would benefit us all.
The problem with market homes is classic supply and demand. We’re a victim of our own environmental success. High demand for housing on our Garden Island continues to generate unaffordable costs. In a world suffering from smog, gridlock, and famine we are a paradise.
How about some bold ideas, implemented by responsible citizens, to keep government off our backs. We can generate a sustainable economy and reduce our footprint.
As history shows, socialism is a bad idea. Spending our way out of debt doesn’t work!
