Marsha Mae Honnold
Marsha Mae Honnold, 74, of Santa Barbara, California, formerly of Kauai, was born on Oct. 6, 1942, and passed away on June 29, 2017, at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital.
She was a world traveler and an elementary school teacher across the United States and Europe, as well as a mentor and trainer for teachers at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marcelino and Feliza Cuizon, and brother Gene Cuizon.
She is survived by husband Greg Honnold Sr., sons Greg Honnold Jr. and Rich Honnold, grandchildren Kanani, Isabella, Drake and Dane, brother Dennis (Lynn) Cuizon, sisters Carmen Stagner and Suzette Cuizon, sister-in-law Gayle Cuizon and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, at noon at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Internment will follow.
Dominga Celestina Sagisi Alcaraz
Dominga Celestina Sagisi Alcaraz of Puhi passed away at home on July 15, 2017, at the age of 94. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on May 13, 1923, and retired from Lihue Plantation as a field worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Generoso Alcaraz; daughter, Felicidad Gamiao; parents, Quintin and Bernabela Sagisi; brother, Justo (Juana) Sagisi; sisters, Celedonia (Agustin) Galiza, Cresencia (Telesforo) Acojido, Josefina Gascon and Vicky (Faustino) Hernandez.
Dominga is survived by her son, Inocencio “Joe” (Connie) Alcaraz of Puhi; daughters, Lolita Tagudan and Monica Guerrero of the Philippines, Susan (Melvin) Braceros of Puhi; 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Elisa (Escolastico) Adaoag; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 29 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Mitsuko K. Matsuda
Mitsuko K. Matsuda, 88, passed away on June 22, 2017, at Garden Island Heath care.
Born on Feb. 22, 1929, in Lanai City, she was a retired manager with the Lanai Credit Union.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Patrick) Kaihara; grandchild Shari (Erik) Nakamura; great-grandchild Kellan Nakamura; three sisters, Setsuko Hashimoto, Hideko Saruwatari, Edna (Elton) Egami; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Claradeen ‘Deenie’ Fu-McDermott
Claradeen “Deenie” Momilani Fu-McDermott of Kapaa passed away on June 8, 2017, at the age of 60. She was born in Wailua, Kauai, on Sept. 2, 1956, and retired as a hostess at the St. Regis Hotel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin McDermott; daughter Maile Mokihana Fu; parents Clara Lihau and Edwin Kwai Meng Fu Sr.; sister Charleen “ShaSha” Fu Kinney; brother Wendall “Jumbo” Fu; sister-in-law Aleta Blackstad Fu; and brother-in-law Thomas “Pee-Wee” Giltner.
Deenie is survived by her brother Edwin Kwai Meng Fu Jr.; sisters, Edleen Kaui, Helena Giltner and Marleen (Greg) Fu-Goodwin; sister-in-law Joanna Fu; brother-in-law William “Blue” Kinney; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on July 30, 2017, at the Hanalei Valley Cemetery, Kauai. Flowers are welcomed. Casual attire suggested.

Shyden Likeke Kaniala Kaneholani-Ponte
Shyden Likeke Kaniala Kaneholani-Ponte of Wailua Houselots passed away at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children on July 18, 2017, at the age of 9. He was born in Lihue on Feb. 13, 2008, and was a student at Wilcox Elementary School.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Alfred and Evelyn Reis and Herbert and Elizabeth Kaneholani.
Shyden is survived by his parents, Bryon and Shy Ponte; sisters, Brittney, Bryanna, Bryancie; brothers, Shane and Shaisten; grandparents, Fred and Sharon Ponte and Daniel and Evangeline Kaneholani; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12 at Anahola Beach Park (Hawaiian Homes side) with viewing from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.
