LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a runaway.

Leilani Alvarado, 17, was last seen near Sand Island on Oahu on July 3.

She is believed to be on Kauai, and is in need of medical attention for severe diabetes.

Alvarado is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 163 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair, and is of Mexican descent.

Anyone with information about Alvarado’s whereabouts is urged to call KPD Dispatch at 241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 246-8300.
