WAIMEA — Four koa bowls that were allegedly stolen from a youth baseball tournament Thursday night have been found.
Local club Ruff Ryderz Baseball Kauai hosted the second annual Baseball in Paradise tournament, which concluded Saturday.
Ruff Ryderz Baseball Kauai treasurer and tournament director Jennifer Pimsaguan said on Saturday that the bowls, which are intended as trophies, were returned Friday night.
Pimsaguan said the bowls were found in a garbage bag in a dugout at Waimea Park. A couple of engraved plaques are still missing, however.
The bowls were locked away in the food booth at Waimea Park. It was discovered Friday morning that a window to the food booth was loosened and the bowls were missing.
The bowls were donated by the Friends of Bernard Carvalho Jr., the Kauai Mayor’s campaign committee. The total value was estimated at $160.
Nine teams participated in this year’s tournament — four from Kauai and five from Neighbor Islands and the Mainland.
