LIHUE — Kauai Community Federal Credit Union awarded $2,000 scholarships each to five graduating high school seniors at a ceremony last month at the Kukui Grove West office.
This year’s KCFCU Your Choice Scholarship recipients are Eryn Yamashiro and Bailey Bernabe from Kapaa High School, and Sharae Cua, Bronwyn Kay and Haley Soller from Kauai High School.
“This is a very special time of year where KCFCU takes pride in giving back to the community in the form of scholarships to a well-deserved group of high school seniors. Today we celebrate their accomplishments and achievements while in high school and wish them all the best as our young leaders of tomorrow,” said Irving Soto, KCFCU vice president of business development and Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO).
“We congratulate these students and support their future endeavors in higher education.”
Candidates needed to be members of the credit union, and were judged on academic merit, community service, credit union relationship and financial need.
Soto also thanked the Scholarship Committee members, Sandy Magnussen, Debbie Lea Higuchi and Marlene Leary, who reviewed almost 40 applications.
KCFCU operates five branch offices on Kauai, in Waimea, Lihue, Kapaa, Eleele and Kukui Grove.
