Shawn Thomas Sarmiento
Shawn Thomas Sarmiento, 43, of Koloa, Kauai passed away on June 9, 2017, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on July 2, 1973, in Lihue, Shawn worked as a cook with the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa.
He is survived by his parents, Pablo and Nadia Sarmiento of Koloa; brothers, Paul (Cheryl) Sarmiento of Las Vegas, Ryan (Taryn Moura) Sarmiento of Koloa; sisters, Tanya (Troy) Sakamoto of Mililani, Shellen (Gerald Abiley) Sarmiento of Koloa, Mindy (Jay) Matsunaga of Lawai; hanai sister, Kimberly Tada of Wailua and 8 nephews, 2 nieces and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life we be held on Saturday, July 15, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa. Visitation will be from 8 to 9:45 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m.

Hatsumi Fujimoto
Hatsumi A. Fujimoto, 96, passed away on May 27, 2017. She was born on Dec. 17, 1920, in Hanapepe, Kauai.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fujimoto; son, David Fujimoto; daughter, Kathleen Kure; brothers, Harry, Minoru, Saburo and Wally Akiyama; grandchild, Michele Kure and Tiffany Pantohan; great grandchild, Cayd Fujimoto; parents, Ushitaro and Hatsue Akiyama.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Toni) Fujimoto of Hanapepe; daughters, Eileen (Charles) Powell of California, Cora Fujimoto of California, Colleen (Michael) Pantohan of Eleele; sisters, Molly (Hiroshi) Tomimoto of Oahu, Norma Henderson of Oahu and Gladys Oshiro of Oahu. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Juanita Sangbaan Claudio
Juanita Sangbaan Claudio, 87, of Kekaha, Kauai passed away on July 8, 2017, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 3, 1930, in the Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcelo Claudio and Arcadio and Marcela Sangbaan.
She is survived by her sister, Dolores Raquel of Kekaha; Nephew, Jay Radoc of California, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday July 21, 2017, at Garden Island Mortuary from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire and Omit flowers.
