Where did the summer go to? Elyse Litvack of Kumu’s Cupboard was busy getting the educator resource center ready for school at Kukui Grove Center (don’t forget the Back to School Bash coming up on July 22!). They’ve got a lot more stuff for teachers, and Elyse was working on the scanning system to help make “shopping” more efficient!
Jeff Venzon was enjoying lunch to get ready for the Monday night (Derek Kono — how many of you remember when he played for Kauai High School? — was visiting from Las Vegas) edition of the summer youth basketball league (great job, Bobby Kamakele!) who will be starting playoffs as early as this week.
Barbara Oki wants everyone to come visit Oki’s Box Lunches & Omiyage, which is scheduled to open Thursday from 7 a.m. (coffee and some cake for breakfast?). She was supposed to open July 1, but last-minute things kept popping up at the Kukui Grove food court area. But she’s ready to go, and among the regular box lunches and plate lunches, check out Takeo’s special treat.
Josie Pablo said there are Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital 100th anniversary (big luau, Saturday) shirts available in different styles, so people gotta call for pricing. Have a good trip to Japan with the Kauai Yankees, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. (he won’t be able to make the luau)!
