Altra is donating free running shoes to the top five boy and girl finishers 18 and under in the The Kauai Half Marathon.
“Altra knows the importance of developing healthy feet and running habits at a young age, which is why we are excited to team up with The Kauai Marathon Youth Running Program,” according to a press release.
The Kauai Marathon Youth Running Program, presented by Kauai Coffee was initiated by Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon multi-year champion and course record holder, Tyler McCandless, in 2013 as an avenue to give back to the community which has made such an impact on his personal and professional life.
The focus of the program was to make a positive difference with the youth of Kauai by educating students on the benefits of healthy choices both in nutrition and exercise while promoting health and happiness.
New to the TKMYRP in 2017 is the partnership with Altra Running Shoes.
Additionally, Altra will give away fun goodies at the event, along with a discount code for new shoes for all other youth 18 and under that run in the half marathon.
The Ninth annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon is scheduled Sept. 3 beginning at 6 a.m. Both events begin on Poipu Road in front of the Poipu Shopping Village.
