The Kawaihau Majors All-Stars will draw a bye today when the 2017 District 1 Major tournament opens at the Main Diamond at the Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Sports Park.
Coached by Andrew Lazaro Jr., the Kawaihau Majors drew the by because the tournament is being hosted by the Kawaihau Community Little League from July 7 through 11.
Tournament play opens today at noon when Kaneohe takes on Kahalu‘u, the winner of that match facing Kawaihau on July 8 starting at 10 a.m.
Kailua will open play today against Kainalu starting at 3 p.m., the winner of that match drawing a Saturday bye and will face the winner of the Kawaihau game July 9 starting at 1 p.m.
The championship game for the District 1 Majors tournament is set for noon July 11.
