LIHUE — Girl Scouts of Hawaii Troop 823 partnered with the Kauai Branch of the Hawaii Foodbank to participate in the “Safeway Bag Summer Hunger” campaign IB Saturday.
The initiative encourages Kauai residents to purchase a pre-filled bag of food for $10 to assist the Hawaii Foodbank in feeding children during the summer months. The scouts collected about 150 bags of food at the Lihue Safeway in a five-hour period.
The Troop 823 service project is an example of the Girl Scouts mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
