Roy Miyake had his granddaughter (congratulations, Taryn Miyake, Caileen Sylvester and Julie Nguyen on graduating from Chapman University!) for the Kapaa Jodo Mission bon dance (Wilma Chandler said Josie Pablo weren’t bringing their Samual Mahelona Memorial Hospital residents because they were participating in the Mayor-a-thon). Mike Teruya came early to get the chili (the food line was super long), and Sandi Kato-Klutke got all wet, but managed to get some of the sushi before calling it a night.
Flo Tazaki (the Kauai credit unions’ “Fifteen in Fifteen” food drive starts today!) was gathered near her brother (who knew Brian Atendido was her brother?) and stayed dry out of the rain.
Laura Kawamura was doing great, collecting food for both food banks at the Mayor-a-thon (Michelle Panoke did the Mayor-a-thon, Kelvin Moniz came out to help the Lions clubs, and Tommy Noyes and Dr. Randy Blake both said the Kawaihau spur to Ke Ala Hele Makalae is coming along, nicely thanks to the red caps).
Wes Perreira was still waiting on Michelle at Hokulei Village Safeway (Lesah Merritt is still No. 1 for the Safeway “Bag Summer Hunger” campaign!) with Teresa Caires and Girl Scout Troop 823 (Jayda Wakilina and Alexis Cacabelos made the cut as Kauai High School cheerleaders!) for a final push before the end of June (ya-a-a, where did Fourth of July come from?).
