Haven’t caught my breath from rehearsal, yet…great job, Brenda Biehler, on the salute to the armed forces to benefit the Kauai Veterans Museum! At the risk of spilling the beans, one tip…sit close to the stage…the closer you sit, the greater the impact. And, as Ron Wood keeps saying, “no hold-overs.”
We don’t need to wait until a “military” event to show appreciation to our armed forces because Tropic Care Kauai opened Monday and will continue through June 21 with free “medical care in a military environment” as part of the U.S. Department of Defense Instant Readiness Training. Was nice to see Sgt. Danielle Smith of Virginia checking to see if Betty Kobayashi (how many of you miss Kauai Office Equipment?) was all right with waiting on the sidewalk at Kauai Community College. Cindy Kobayashi said Betty was back after participating in Tropic Care a few years ago. Thank you, Lt. Col. Melissa Wardlaw, Toni Torres, and everyone!
Kudos, too, to Robin Sanchez (mahalo for the lunch, too — it hit the spot!), Jim Jung, and the American Legion Post 54 Kapaa on hosting the Flag Day ceremonies (good thing Monday was a holiday) where Teresa Caires was able to get her Girl Scout Troop 823 to participate alongside the Boy Scouts from Troop 83!
OK, ‘nuff said…it’s off to see UH football coach Nick Rolovich (he’ll be at Meet the Coach Thursday too) and the football camp at Vidinha Stadium (if you’re looking at this before 9 a.m., you still have time to check it out).
