LIHUE — University of Hawaii head football coach Nick Rolovich and members of his coaching staff are coming to Kauai next week.
The Warrior football coach and his staff will be hosting a free Hawaii football summer camp for young athletes ages 5 through eighth grade on Wednesday at the Vidinha Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon.
Registration will begin 9 a.m. at the main entrance.
Rolovich will wrap up his trip Thursday with a Na Koa “Meet the Coach” fundraiser at the Kauai Community College dining room starting at 5:30 p.m.
The county’s Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Hawaii football team to present the instructional in-depth summer camp.
In order to take part in the event, participants and/or parents will need to download the waiver form, which can be accessed online at www.kauai.gov/parks, and bring the completed form to the camp. Forms which is available at the Parks and Recreation main office located in the Moikeha Building.
Walk-in registration will also be accepted on the day of the event.
Students enrolled in the county’s Summer Enrichment Program will be taken to Vidinha Stadium for the camp and back to the program site when the camp is completed.
Athletes need to use athletic clothing, including athletic shoes. Spikes, pads, and helmets are not required.
For the “Meet the Coach” fundraiser, pre-sale tickets are available at Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering in Puhi. Tickets will be also available on today at the Kauai Bettas booth from Liz Han at the Kauai Community Market from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the event.
During the event, guests can meet the Hawaii Warrior coaches, talk football, and enjoy heavy pupu by Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering.
