Congratulations to Mabel Hashisaka, Ann Hashisaka (she was in Las Vegas), and the Kauai Kookie ‘ohana who opened their latest store in Port Allen.
Mabel has mac nuts from her backyard on sale along with other lines like Ono Pops (Greg Askew is going to fire up a green egg for the grill fest Saturday at the Kauai Community Market – Liz Hahn said she’ll have Meet the Coach pre-sale tickets at the Kauai Bettas booth), the chicken shirt line (really nice-looking caps), and pies and sandwiches from the Kalaheo store.
The store was a byproduct from visiting the Kauai Island Brewing Co. (Viviane Stein really liked the Beer to Go at the Taste of Hawaii, and it was a good thing Kyson Gusukuma was working) who is one of the sponsors for the upcoming Dog House Beer Fest (Dane Cosson had the right cap on), coordinated by Chris Young (he said the Lilikoi Ale Braised Brisket from Makaweli Beef on Taro Briop from Passion Bakery served with the house IPA Mustard slider is the bomb!) to benefit the Kauai Humane Society and the Junior Achievement.
OK, off to the Lihue Hongwanji bon dance (might see some of them Tropic Care people there, too) where it’s roast pork and nishime on the dinner menu … doors open at 6 p.m.
