LIHUE — It’s been a year since Kauai Flooring and Interiors opened its showroom in Lihue, and the family business continues to share its 25 years of flooring knowledge.
“It’s very important for us to make people feel comfortable and that we work with you and ask a lot of questions,” said Nancy Smith, president.
A family’s lifestyle, pet situation, budget and what’s important in their lives all matter when it comes to what kind of floor is needed, Smith said.
“We can match their lifestyle to the right flooring to make sure that they get something that wears for a long time,” she said. “And they don’t have to worry about flooring for another 15 years, another generation.”
General Manager Scott Hagriss isn’t trying to make sales. He wants customers to be in love with their floor.
“It’s our mission to find Kauai-friendly flooring,” he said. “We want to find out what the right product is. We’re not here to pressure people into buying stuff. If you ask a lot of questions and zero in (on) what’s going to work on that customer’s lifestyle, they will be in love with that floor.”
The anniversary is being commemorated with a sale, running all this month, with the lowest prices of the year. Carpets are up to 20 percent off and hard-surface flooring is up to 15 percent off.
“Because we’re getting so many referrals, we really want to reward the people of Kauai for supporting us and getting the word out to their friends and family who come in and let us know how they heard about us,” Smith said.
“This year we’re set up to grow,” Hagriss said.
The team will be building the sales staff and installation team and providing employment.
“We have five people working with our installation crew,” Hagriss said. “We’re going to grow that to somewhere between eight and 10 this year.”
Hagriss will also add one salesperson to the retail side, and one to commercial sales.
