Fran Constantino said she was proud the Supersonics finished No. 2 in the inaugural Na Koa Memorial Basketball Tournament (Coach Clarence Sales said he’s finalizing the schedule for the Merv Lopes Classic being hosted by Team Central Basketball), and Coach Cory Dobashi (there were a lot of generals at the Memorial Day Observance) said the Island School team in Na Koa tournament is the same Isle Gold team in the youth summer league being coordinated by Bobby Kamakele.
Cory was at the Kauai Coffee Agricultural Business Plan competition finals (great job, Jaye Youn and Barbara Gusman of the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach!) where Aletha Thomas of Monkeypod Jam was this year’s winner. Chef Lucas Sautter was doing the honors at the carving station and said he’ll be back at the Rotary Club of Kapaa’s Taste of Hawaii, Sunday at Smith’s Tropical Paradise (Sally Cravens said she’s in charge of Japanese Island).
OK, time to go check out Rev. Tomo Hojo and the first bon dance of the season at the West Kauai Hongwanji Mission, Hanapepe Temple (gotta go early to beat out the parking for the Hanapepe Art Night).
Wayne Fujioka, president of the Lihue Hongwanji Mission, has been getting his crew busy preparing for their event next week.
