LIHUE — Gas price averages continued to remain stable in Hawaii, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price is $3.06, which is 1 cent higher than last Thursday, 1 cent more than a month ago, and 37 cents higher than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
On Kauai, the average price is about $3.29. The Hilo average price is $3.04, which is up 1 cent from last week, 1 cent lower than last month and 35 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.52, which is 2 cents higher than last Thursday, 2 cents higher than on this date a month ago, and 34 cents higher than on this date a year ago. In Honolulu, the average price is $2.90, which is the same price as last Thursday, one cent lower than on this date last month and 39 cents higher than last year
“Regionally, prices fluctuated between pennies on the week. On the West Coast, every state earned a spot on the top 10 weekly list of the most expensive markets: California, $3.09, Hawaii, $3.06, Alaska, $2.90, Washington, $2.87, Nevada, $2.74 and Oregon, $2.72,” according to AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.
“Motorists can help stretch their gasoline dollars by shopping around for the best price, keeping their car maintenance up to date, and consolidating errands,” she added.
Costco, at $2.69 a gallon, offered by far the lowest price for a gallon of gasoline on Kauai.
