Gary Keeth (he was enjoying one of them Living Foods sliders — Melissa McFerrin-Warrack calls them the Finnegan-sized hamburgers) said the Proud Pecker line of chicken wear and the co-branding with Hanalei Coffee Roasters/The Hanalei Tea Company with Mark Furr and Tina Ferrato (still remember that coffee from the Chocolate Festival) is complete at the Poipu Shopping Village store — ever see a chicken drink coffee, or tea?
Thomas Metcalfe was enjoying his first outing with Laura Cristobal Andersland of The Salty Wahine, and Char Jenkins is still fine-tuning more grilling ideas for The Kauai Culinary Market. Laura said Wednesday was the first day in their “new” store located next to the former location near the Kauai Kookie factory.
Major Victor Aguilar had his JROTC crew (Laura said watching the kids perform always gets to her) and singers Carla Mae Satumba and D’Annalyn Helgen doing a special Memorial Day tribute with Krystal Papa rendering the “Memorial Day Taps.” He said they’ll be at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetary for the Monday Memorial Day service, too.
OK, if you need stuff to do, coach Kauhane Kamahalu is hosting a Memorial Day basketball tournament at the Bernice Hundley Gym featuring 16 teams playing from Friday through Monday. Coach Peter Rayno and the Hanamaulu Hillsiders are hosting a kachi-kachi dinner/dance starting at 6 p.m. (it’s tonight!) at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Stay safe, and have a great weekend!
