Sharon Lasker (she had some coveted fans at the Older American Fair) is ready for you Wednesday when the Regency at Puakea opens doors at 10 a.m. to its third annual Silent Auction and Bargain Bin to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
For those who want to sample some of Chef Bree Borrero’s cooking, there are no hot dogs or chili. Instead, Borrero is offering freshly made bento boxes with a bottle of water from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The wide range of silent auction and Bargain Bin items includes jewelry, artwork, furniture and collectibles, and are available through 5 p.m. … definitely worth the visit.
And then, on Friday, drop by Jasmine Yukimura (she was at the Older American Fair, too) and the ohana at the Kauai Adult Day Health Center (yep, they’re the people close to Hamura Saimin) from 5 to 7 p.m. for a casino night featuring Verna Nobriga as the guest speaker. And since it’s a casino night, there will be the usual poker, black jack and more, with prizes and food and, if you’re lucky, you might run into Pacita McDermott, too.
OK, time to check out Laura Cristobal Andersland, Amy Chun, Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, and if lucky, Helaine Perel with the grilling flat iron steak from Char Andrade of Ranchers Daughter Reserve at the Kauai Culinary Market from 3:30 p.m. at The Shops at Kukuiula (yes, there is valet parking).
